A restrained round-table mediation scene in a bright law office

Resolve it without a hearing

Structured mediation of workplace, employment, human rights and business disputes.

Mediation that moves toward resolution

Mediation is a voluntary, structured process in which an impartial mediator helps parties reach their own agreement. It is not about declaring a winner — it is about finding a resolution the parties can live with, often faster and at lower cost than litigation.

Effective mediation requires preparation, legal knowledge, and the ability to identify the interests beneath stated positions. The focus here is on practical outcomes, not indefinite discussion.

Matters we mediate

Wrongful dismissal

Termination disputes where an employee challenges the reasonableness of cause, notice, or severance offered.

Workplace conflict & harassment

Interpersonal conflict, bullying, and harassment complaints that have strained the working relationship.

Human-rights complaints

Complaints of discrimination or harassment based on a protected ground under the Human Rights Code.

Business & partnership disputes

Disagreements between business partners, shareholders, or co-owners over direction, duties, or exit.

How mediation works

  1. 01

    Pre-mediation call with each party

The mediator speaks separately with each side in advance to understand the facts, the interests beneath the positions, and what each party needs to walk away with.

  2. 02

    Mediation briefs

Each party prepares a brief setting out the background, the issues, and the relief sought. Briefs are exchanged so everyone arrives informed and ready.

  3. 03

    Mediation session

A structured session — joint discussion and private caucuses — guided by the mediator toward common ground and workable terms.

  4. 04

    Written terms of settlement

When the parties reach agreement, the terms are recorded in writing and signed, so the resolution is clear, enforceable, and durable.

Why parties choose mediation

Faster

Mediation can resolve a dispute in weeks rather than the months or years litigation often requires.

Less costly

Avoiding prolonged court or tribunal proceedings can significantly reduce the financial cost of resolving the dispute.

Parties keep control

The outcome is shaped by the parties themselves, not imposed by a judge or adjudicator who may not understand the relationship.

Confidential

Discussions and offers made during mediation are confidential and cannot be used in later litigation.

Outcomes depend on the parties and the circumstances of each dispute. Mediation offers the opportunity for a faster, more controlled resolution, but it does not guarantee a settlement.
